We are recruiting a paralegal to join our dynamic legal team in West Melbourne (please note that we are working from home throughout the COVID-19 restrictions).

The role:

This role is for someone who wants to build their career as a paralegal in a supportive and collaborative workplace. The paralegal will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the legal office as well as assisting with the legal and administrative requirements of the professional legal staff. In particular, the paralegal will support and work closely with our migration lawyers.

The paralegal will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritise daily tasks to ensure all important deadlines are met. The paralegal will also be expected to demonstrate initiative and a careful eye for detail.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receiving incoming phone calls including from prospective clients
  • Support the legal practitioners with their legal client work including by undertaking research, reviewing documents, drafting letters and other such tasks as directed
  • Meet with clients for appointments
  • Liaise with external parties on behalf of the firm including interpreter agencies, doctors, psychologists, caseworkers and others
  • Undertake administrative duties such as filing, data entry and photocopying
  • Other duties from time to time

Desirable:

  • Qualification in legal studies or as a paralegal

  • Ability to speak in a language other than English

We are recruiting a Receptionist to join our dynamic team for a part-time role in West Melbourne (please note that we are working from home throughout the COVID-19 restrictions).

The role:

The Receptionist will assist with the day to day running of the legal office as well as assisting with the administrative requirements of the professional legal staff. The Receptionist will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to follow procedures and prioritise daily tasks to ensure all important deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receiving all incoming phone calls including from prospective clients
  • Greet clients when they attend appointments
  • Ensure the legal office is well maintained including stocked meeting rooms, kitchen and bathrooms
  • Process merchant facility and cash payments
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Enter data on our various data management systems
  • Photocopy, file and shred documents as required
  • Run out of office errands such as posting mail, collecting coffees and lunches etc.
  • Other duties from time to time

Essential:

  • Has excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Uses initiative to ensure tasks are completed with high-quality and within deadlines
  • Thrives in a collaborative and team focused environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Desirable:

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Ability to speak in a language other than English
