WLW Migration Lawyers is seeking a migration lawyer to join our team

Full-time – Brisbane

The role:

This is an exciting new role for our firm to help us expand into the Queensland market, where some of our clients are currently based! We are seeking an experienced migration lawyer with a collaborative mind-set and who is passionate about helping people with their journey to living in Australia. As a Migration Lawyer, you will provide legal advice and assistance to clients across all areas of Australian migration law under the supervision of a Partner.

Salary and benefits: 

• $72,000-$105,000 plus superannuation per annum, commensurate with experience
• Hybrid working model with the opportunity to arrange up to two work from home days per week once training is completed
• Annual training budget to broaden and strengthen your skills through external training programs in addition to regular internal training sessions
• A supportive work environment with a strong focus on work-life balance and employee wellbeing, including access to our Employee Assistance Program, Global Work Program and other firm perks

Key responsibilities:

• Provide timely and accurate migration advice to clients and meet deadlines as needed
• Assess the eligibility of clients for temporary or permanent residency
• Contribute to firm sales through delivering free 10-minute phone calls and consultations with clients
• Deal in an effective, respectful and ethical manner at all times with clients
• Prepare, review and lodge visa applications, tribunal appeals, judicial review appeals and requests to the Minister
• Prepare legal submissions and undertake research
• Work collaboratively with other lawyers and support staff
• Enter and maintain client information in the client database
• Ensure all professional and other obligations such as continuing professional development are maintained
• Other duties from time to time

Qualifications and experience:

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:

Essential:

• Legal practicing certificate
• Minimum 1 year of experience in immigration law as a lawyer
• Keen problem solver who loves finding novel approaches to problems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Passion for immigration law
• Alignment with WLW values
• Ability to work effectively in a team

Desirable:

• Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
• Ability to speak in a language other than English
