WLW Migration Lawyers is seeking a migration agent to join our team

Full-time – West Melbourne

The role:

We are seeking an experienced Migration Agent with a collaborative mind-set and who is passionate about helping people with their journey to living in Australia. As a Migration Agent, you will provide legal advice and assistance to clients in the area of migration, with a particular focus on temporary visas, skilled migration, family migration, employer sponsored migration, and visa cancellation. The Migration Agent will also provide advice in relation to other visas and areas of migration law under the supervision of a Partner. 

Be part of an award-winning team with the opportunity to contribute to legal precedents through our significant judicial review case load and finding new ways of delivering legal services by using technology. 

Salary and benefits: 

  • $70,000-$85,000 plus superannuation per annum, commensurate with experience
  • Hybrid working model with the opportunity to work two days from home per week (for full-time staff) once training is completed
  • Annual training budget to broaden and strengthen your skills through external training programs in addition to regular internal training sessions

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate migration advice to clients and meet deadlines as needed
  • Assess the eligibility of clients for temporary or permanent residency
  • Contribute to firm sales through delivering free 10-minute phone calls and consultations with new clients
  • Deal in an effective, respectful and ethical manner at all times with clients
  • Prepare, review and lodge visa applications, tribunal appeals, judicial review appeals and requests to the Minister
  • Prepare legal submissions and undertake research
  • Work collaboratively with other lawyers and support staff
  • Enter and maintain client information in the client database
  • Ensure all professional and other obligations such as continuing professional development are maintained
  • Other duties from time to time

Qualifications and experience:

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Registration with OMARA
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in immigration law as a migration agent
  • Keen problem solver who loves finding novel approaches to problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Passion for immigration law
  • Alignment with WLW values
  • Ability to work effectively in a team

Desirable:

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Ability to speak in a language other than English
